Strawberry Pretzel Dessert
1st Layer:
2 1/2 cups pretzels, crushed
3/4 cup margarine (melted)
3 Tablespoons sugar
2nd Layer:
8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
8 ounce container Cool Whip, thawed
3rd Layer:
2 small packages strawberry Jell-O
2 cups hot water
2 packages (boxes) frozen strawberries (with heavy syrup)
Make 3rd layer first so it can gel while making other layers. Mix Jello, water, and add strawberries when mixture starts to gel (not completely firm). For 1st layer, crush pretzels (reserve 1/2 cup of crushed pretzels) and mix sugar and melted margarine. Press pretzel mixture in the bottom of a 9X13 inch pan and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool pretzel crust for at least 15 minutes. For 2nd layer, cream together softened cream cheese and powdered sugar in an electric mixer and fold in Cool Whip; spread 2nd layer on top of first layer. Pour 3rd layer over 2nd layer. For garnish, use reserved crushed pretzels to sprinkle over the top of the 3rd layer. Refrigerate and serve.
